Hi !
i'm going to buy new synth modul and I'm 95% to buy k2000R ( it's 2000$ cheaper than k2500 ) ! i'm just wondering if k2000 has same sounds ( that 200 programs ) than k2500R ? the polyphony isn't big problem for me ( k2000r has only 24 polyphony ) !
2. what sould i buy K2000R or K2000RS ? anyway what is SAMPLER ???

The K2000VP's and the K2500's share the same 200 ROM programs.

Well I'm new to this, but my understanding is that a sampler is a way to create your own sounds, and they are created by recording instead of being created by a computer. (Is that right?)

So when Kurzweil created their sampled ROM sounds, they went out with microphones and recorded them.

So sampled sounds I would think in theory be more realistic and less synthetic sounding than non-sampled sounds. That's probably debatable though.

What exactly happens after you sample a sound is beyond me - haven't bought a synth yet or a sampler. Maybe that's what you really wanted to know.

There are lots of people with more technical expertise who could provide a better answer. Additions/corrections to my answer glady accepted...

Hmm, I know that the drums for the Kurzweil were actually sampled in Castle Gould in Sands Point Long Island. As to how they recorded them exactly, is an interesting question. What equipment they used, and so on. The best person to ask would be Kurzweil employees like Geoff Gee, and former employee Jennifer Hruska who now owns her own sample company. To find out how to contact them, go to www.sonikmatter.com to find out, or Young Changs website.
