Hi,
I play a Yamaha P80 stage piano at home set up on a quik lok stand, which brings the height of the top of the keys to 31" measured from the floor.

31" is not an ideal piano height I dont think, but the next adjustment down on my quik lok stand drops to 26" which would make it too low.

I need a piano stool set at 24" high to get a good playing position.I've been down the local music shop and all they have is an adjustable stool that only gets me 22" high.

I would love to know if I can get a good stirdy stool at 24" high?
What heights do you have if you use a simerler setup.

Regards
Daz

I have an Ultra KT216 which is a great bench and adjusts 22-24 inches. I bought it at samedaymusic.com

Make sure you get the correct height - I developed chronic tennis elbow because I had too low a bench!!

Get yourself a padded Drum Throne. These are infinitely adjustable and with the motorcycle seat are extremely comfortable. Pay extra and get it double-braced. I use this one:

Check it out.

I use the "throne" with the back rest support, but with the round seat ... I'm going to have to look into that "sumo" seat for my "sumo" butt... ...
I like the throne for its 'swivel' capability ..
However, the piano bench in Graham's link looks pretty comfy too ...

The trouble with an X type bench( Ihave one!) is that you better sit right in the middle, and not lean out to get something, or you will tip it! I did, and went into the wall ! I had to set it to the tallest it would go so I could see my screen on the PSR-2000 keyboard. I am very short ( 5 ft 4) and have bi-focals to boot!
If I had it to do over, I would use a stool with a back rest like Gary Diamond uses.

Actually, my entire studio redsign started with trying to find a more comfortable way to sit at my keyboards and computers and desks, all three of which are different heights. The solution was to buy a "drafting table chair" at Staples. These can be adjusted up and down way more than most computer chairs or piano benches.

I have the heavy duty X seat. I can adjust my X brace two different ways. You should be able to get a height somewhere between 31 and 26" I do.
