Do I appear to be the only person having trouble finding a suitable USB Pen Drive that will work in the PSR3000. Out of 3 tried (fortunately borrowed from a friend) only one worked which was a DISGO manufacture. I am told by Yamaha that both the Disgo Lite & Classic work into the 3K.
I can't find out the reason certain USB Flash Drives do not work in the 3K. The 3k states it want to format the USB, if you allow this then the USB can not be read by a PC. All very funny !!!

I just purchased a Lexar 512MB 'secure' jump drive and it permits me to partition the drive. Might this feature help you if part of the drive was dedicated to the 3k and the other to other storage? My other thought was - keep a smaller drive exclusively for your 3k. Why would you want to mix song data with other stuff? Just a thought.

More USB Pen Drive information. I may have found an answer
The DISGO Branded Drive that works I noticed it was formatted to FAT (not FAT32).

The other Pen Drive (Intelligent Stick) which did not work in the 3K, I formatted to FAT instead of FAT32 and this USB Pen now works.

So the 3000 requires to see a USB device formatted to FAT.

Graham.
