As I understand it, there are digital and analogh synths. As well as virtual analogh. So they both create sound but what is the name of the synth where you work with a wave form and filter and manipulate it to create sounds. I cant see a separation in names between them and so called sampleback synths. This is the one where you have your usual traditional instruments such as piano and guitarr. I see it as the one i dont know the name of and the sampleback can use digital or analogh technology but are very different in their use.

Could someone please tell me the name I am looking for and give me examples of brands who produce the various types of equipment.

I know this is a very basic question but someone maybee fell for answering it.

Tanks

Good question. I'd like to know too. I have seen them refered to as "ROMpler". I think the meaning mean there is a sampled sound in there but it is really only Read Only. Filters and effects can be applied over the sampled waveform. But I too would like to know what these type os synths are really called.

They're basically the only kind I use. I think there's a whole art to creating sounds. I've not dabbled into this. My art is more focused on playing the music, writing ,music, sight reading. I do admire those that can create their own sounds and use them.
