I wait patiently every day for the phone call from my dealer, and check these message boards many times a day for a glimpse of hope that one of you has received yours, meaning mine's on the way. Alas, nothing to be seen/heard as of yet.

If you are waiting for a Tyros from the US, you will be waiting until sometime in November at the earliest. That is when the first units are scheduled to come from Japan.

I had an interesting post from one of our taiwanese members yesterday at tyrosworld. Apparently his yamaha dealer has told him that Yamaha are holding back shipment of the Tyros because of a legal challenge concerning the demonstrations. It has been claimed that the demo's can not be reproduced using the equipment, that they were made using real instruments and that the tyros simply acts as a "key transposer" (his words not mine!).
I agree that parts of the demo's were definitely not made using the keys, but guitar to midi convertors and so on, even so I don't believe what was said is true.
As far as I am aware, many keyboards have always had internal demos that were impossible to reproduce using the keyboard alone, the idea was that they simply showcased the voices of the keyboard.

Back about a year ago, when everybody started hyping the Tyros, I predicted it would be 2003 before we see one here. I may be right yet.
Regarding the demos, it has long been Yamaha's practice to include demos that cannot be reproduced on the keyboard. I believe it is very deceptive and borders on dishonesty.
