Salmi: that's simply AMAZING to hear that Yamaha Europe is claiming to have no knowledge of the Tyros USB problem. Afterall, it was Yamaha Europe that was the FIRST to come up the hardware update (USB Port replacement & diode (2) installation solution for it, as evidenced by Reinhard's (Elcanal) posts on the following SVP forum, way back on 6/1/2004:
http://www.svpworld.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3098&KW=Scottyee When I initially complained to Yamaha USA about the problem, they too gave me an answer similar to yours, and it wasn't until I provided the above thread link that they finally (after months) acknowledged the problem, and provided me the above fix, and thankfully covered by Yamaha warranty.
At this point, I recommend that you email Steve Deming at Yamaha USA, and perhaps he can point to the appropriate person at Yamaha Customer Service in your Country to get the USB problem fixed. Contact Steve Deming at: ycasupport@yamaha.com
Ron, to put the Tyros in USB "Mass Storage" mode, you need to hold down the MusicFinder button (blue) while booting up the Tyros. When functioning properly, the Tyros HD will be seen in Windows 'My Computer' as an external HD device, and you can simply drag, drop & copy files back and forth between the Tyros & your PC.
Interestingly enough, on Steve Deming's personally owned Tyros, the USB Port hardware UPDATE corrected the USB connectivity in "File Utility" mode, but not "Mass Storage Mode". For whatever reason, the USB Port hardware has COMPLETELY solved ALL the USB connectivity problems I was experiencing: in BOTH "File Utility" AND "Mass Storage Modes".
Zalmi & Ron: If I can be of any further assistance in helping you get your Tyros USB problem resolved, let me know. Good luck.
