Over the past few weeks I have tremendously enjoyed reading the posts on this forum. Great folks all around!

I am a newcomer to the PSR2000 (having played the Technics KN 1600 for a couple of years, but on a strict amateurish level, and just for my own pleasure and enjoyment).

On the PSR2000, which for me is a huge step forward, I have modified the Music Database adding more titles and modifying existing records. I would now like to back up this new database to floppy, but can't find a way to do so. Is this possible at all (the handbook does not seem to mention it)?

Hi Georges,

It's BOTH easy and very smart of you to routinely 'back up' your edited Music Finder database. First of all, insert a standard IBM PC formatted floppy diskette into the keyboard.

Press 'Function' button > Utility (i button)> System Reset Tab (via back/next buttons)> Music Finder (i button).

Then select the 'Floppy' tab (via back/next buttons) and then press SAVE (lower portion of #6 toggle button) and it will be saved the existing Music Finder database onto the floppy. Before actually saving, be sure to name your Music Finder file a unique name. I always include the current date in the name such as 'MF0501' for May 1st. This way it's easy to chronologically track your Music Finder files. I then recommend burning and archiving to CD along with all other PSR2000 data (reg, style, song, and custom voice, etc). Hope this helps. Btw, what does your Synthzone user name 'SFPlayer' stand for? You don't by any chance live in San Francisco, do you?

First off, thanks a lot for your help! Your suggestion was right on indeed and worked perfectly. I have printed it out and will attach it to my manual.

For the last couple of weeks I had tried a similar procedure (using copy and paste) and then ended up with the ever same *preset* music database on my floppy. Drove me nuts ! Great to see that there is more than the minimum info our manual mentions.

As to the SFPlayer...,as much as I like San Francisco (had the chance to visit it twice so far, but is is far and expensive getting there from Luxembourg), the SF rather alludes to fingering type us beginners and amateurs tend to use ...
