Last week i purchased new PSR-3000 and i'm having one extra Korg PA-50 power adapator as PSR-3000 adaptor not included with the keyboard.I think PA-50 adaptor has same specification as that of PA-300 adaptor. So can i use korg pa-50 adaptor for psr-3000?
Please help me.

Thanks,
Sunny.

Hi:

The PSR 3000 use the PA300 power adaptor, I suggest if you do not want to damage your keyboards, to use ONLY the manufacturers adaptor, sometimes to save a few dollars, may cost you a lot in repairs.
I see in the lower end of the boards there are "generic" adaptor, Mutec to be precise, for the Casios and low price Yamaha's.
There is not a "generic" adaptor's brand for the PSR 3000 that I know, I had a customer that literally fried his keyboard.

You would be out of your mind to attempt that.

Why didn't your keyboard come with an adapter? Did you buy it on Ebay?

Get the adapter. It's expensive. I got two in case one died on the job. This happened once years ago with my PSR-740, and I don't want this to happen again.

Your solution might appear penny wise, but it is actually pound foolish.

The PA-300 adaptor is optional in India,as we have to buy it at extra cost and PA-300 adaptor and korg PA-50 adaptors both have same voltage and polarity.I think there is no harm using PA-50 adaptor for PSR-3000.

Hi,

I use an ordinary 12 V 1.5 mA adapter for my Yamaha DGX-305. It is 3 times less expensive than the generic one.

If the Pa-50 adapter provides the same voltage and power and polarity as that of the PSR-3000 you could safely use it with your PSR-3000.

There would be no need to spend additional $xx on a generic adapter.

Regards,
George

I once lost the Korg PA50's power adapter somewhere in my store and was desperate to find another that would work. I used a Yamaha PA5 adapter and although it worked, it did cause the Korg PA50 to produce a low volume hum. I used it for a couple of weeks until I found the Korg AC and the hum was gone. I would be careful!
I'm also surprised that the PA-300 is an option in your country because the keyboard can't work without the adapter. Here in the USA, if a keyboard can run on batteries, the AC adapter is usually an option, but in the case of the PSR3000, it won't work on batteries so they have to give you the AC adapter.
I have had customers through out the adapter with the box because they didn't realize the adapter is packaged in it's own brown box at the bottom of the PSR3000 box.
