Thanks for the great image Bluebird.
Doesn't have separate buttons to change bass, drums, and other accompaniment instruments.
Roland is very generous with outputs. 2 headphone jacks (in the front, I like that) and one audio out. My Yamaha PSR550 has only 1 output jack.
The headphone jacks kill the speakers when used (as it should) but do not when plugged into the line output.

Don't you all think that's awful alot of improvment over the Em-25? feature wise the EXR-5 got even better features than the PSR-1000.and even almost equaly features to the Psr-2100 with all the USB/VLINK 1.5MB of Ram/62 polyphony/Discovery-5 features and GM2-XG sUPPORT and it's all going for $600(OR CLOSE)? that's pretty impressive for Roland....as a matter of fact that's too good for Rolnad! I really will check this board out.

Well, the name certainly sounds more professional than the other arrangers out there (with the possible exception of Korg)and it certainly looks like it would fit nicely into a dual keyboard setup - not as bulky as the Yammys. I'll definitely take a look at it when it hits Detroit.

Could there be a $1695 'super' EXR lurking in the shadows?

It's definitely an improvement over EM25. Sounds like it will be competing with the PSR550. I may be selling my PSR550 , but my biggest weight deciding factor is quality of the voices. Roland could do it if they don't choke. EXR-3, EXR-5 (VA3, VA5, VA7, VA76). They might have an EXR-7 and/or EXR-76 in their forthcoming line-up to go head-to-head with the PSR2100.

Bleubird,
I'm sure you will be able to modify styles, since they had this feature in the past. It just doesn't look like they have separate buttons to do this. Perhaps that is what the band orchestrator function does.

I don' hope it...
In EM-25, the same orchestator has the same three levels of complexity of accompaniment:
from the simpler(bass and drums) to the more complex (full band).
These are three levels of orchestation, but not more: nothing about modify styles parts.

I don't think EXR-5 compete with PSR1100, specially because on EXR-5 you can't edit or modify styles. It is a great lacking aspect in Roland.

About volume of drums, accom. and bass parts, I remember EM-25 leave to modify them using "function" key, which had a lot of possibilities. This new kb has "function" key, so, perhaps it is the same...

I don't know, it is difficult to see the label of it.

What are the two buttons below the label "SELECT". I may read something about tracks?

I don't like buttons for styles (intro, fill, variation, ending) were in the left part of keyboard. It will be difficult to push these buttons with right hand, it they are in the left part of kb.

I dont'like too that it is necessary to push the button styles, or tones, before to select a sound or a style. Too much push
