That is a unbiased review for sure, just the facts. PA800 certainly shines. I guess the only answer is to own both boards or at least a PSR 3000 and a PA800

Thanx for the link.....The extra steps to access features as described in the review could really be a hindrance in real time live play with the Korg PA800...it has always been their problem & one of the main reasons I sold my PA units, split secong navagational onboard changes will make or break a performance on stage ...although the Pa800 has many Great features, speakers, weight, display, sound, styles etc etc ....these very IMPORTANT Navigational problems can override everything else in a decision to buy one....although I need to really try one to be sure it is possible workarounds can be tolerated....I hated to read about this when I thought Korg had learned their lesson from the PA units....there are just too many operational steps involved Arggggggggg!

I agree 100% with the contents of the review and the comparison between the Yamaha Tyros2 and the Korg PA800.

The original poster pa800phoenix is actually Manuel Dorantes, our own Synthzone Member. He owns and plays both keyboards. He is a fine gentleman and his reviews are as unbiased as one can get.

I have listened to Manuel’s latest instrumental CD where he plays 16 Ballroom favorites. This is a knock your socks off kind of recording all done just with the Yamaha Tyros2. In the hands of an experienced keyboardist, the Tyros2 does sound exactly like a polished CD. This is exactly the sound I like since I do all my recordings in the studio.

While playing in front of a live audience, you are usually looking for that extra presence, extra bite – that rough and gritty not so polite tone. The PA800 outshines the Tyros2 in this area and will be appreciated by many musicians.

Thanks to Manuel for taking his time to post the original review. He simply could not stop gushing praises about his new PA800 the last time we met. He mentioned his upcoming CD will be done entirely on the PA800.

I will be looking forward to another delightful treat from the true keyboard connoisseur.

Yes, some very common operations do require more steps than on other keyboards. It is not a problem if you have prepared everything - songbook, performances, playlists, etc. - from home, but of course this is not always possible or even desirable.

However, when you try out the Pa800, please take a look at page 298 in the manual. This page describes a lot of shortcuts that make the navigation a little easier for many common situations. Many of these shortcuts are actually quite logical and easy to remember, by example pressing the SHIFT key together with the HARMONY key brings you directly to the Voice Processor settings.

Tommy thanx for the info......out of everything on the market at this time & everything Ive bought in the last few years including the T2/G70/Midjay....& more..
for my uses.....besides my 3k which I use now....playing the PA800 is on top of my
TO DO LIST! On paper it seems to fill many of my needs, online demos sound very nice too....next step is to give it a good live demo thru my Mackie system for my style of playing..........
