Looking to buy EQ, Effects processor, and two stage monitors (powered or with a seperate power amp).

Looking for something good but affordable. For the effects I am mainly looking for something that has nice reverb and good delay/echo. The EQ, something that would be easy to control feedback with. the monitors are mainly for a 4 peice band.

Any advise on what to look into as I am clueless.

For effects, I use a TC Electronics G Force that is outstand (but expensive) the "Cathedral Reverb" on it is killer. They have demos on their site. http://www.tcelectronics.com/

I uses a Behringer "Composer Pro" compresser and a Zoom "1202" effects unit. Both are cheap but effective!

I had a G-Force for guitar effects in my studio and sold it because it was SOO expensive. I didn't want that much money tied up in one piece of gear. It was a great unit, and worked well in different applications, but if cost is a factor for you ... try the TC M-ONExl - it's much cheaper and has the same stellar sound as all the TC line up. Great reverbs, delays and multi programs.

As far as EQ goes ..... There are so many good ones at reasonable cost. DOD, Soundtech, Peavey ..... the better units, like Rane willnot really sount better, but will be made better. More reliable on the road etc. I have a DOD in myroad rig and it's never let me down.

Powered stage monitors ..... Boy, if you can find a set of these EV SXa100's that GC is closing out - it's a great deal at $350. They are pretty good as mains for a small act, and will work great as monitors too. GC lost the EV line, so they are blowing out all the EV stuff at rediculous prices, They just want to be rid of it. Make the call !

UD I know I can always rely on you for stuff like this to relay the info to a dummy like me the way I understand things. You are great!

For EQ, I'm using Peavey Q231FX, it's VERY good and has leds for unwanted feedback location, this means that if you get feedback you can actually see at which frequency feedback occurs so you can eliminate that one.
For effects I can also recommend Lexicon (i still use a LXP-1 which has lasted abouth 10.000 hours working at least and still going strong!!! but I have to admit I like Tc-electronics is very nice too.
Abouth stage monitors I think it depends in which region you live.
Up here in Europe I have seen new HK-audio D.A.R.T.S. monitors which I didn't hear but I'm using an Actor set (HK-Audio) 2,4 KW total RMS power and for my purpose (trio or how do you say this in correct english, 3 man band?) this set is awsome. So in this way I think these monitors will blow your socks off.
Anyway you must find out what kind of monitors do you need, are you using them to hear yourself and audience of 30 people who are dining or or do you need 4 floor 15" monitors only for hearing yourself during real heavy gigs like some rockdrummers or singers want?
Whatever you choose active systems are preferable if you want a quick setup even if you have 15 Watts or 250 Watts.

I play in a two-men band and the equipment :

2 Mackie SRM450's (450W active bi-amped each)
Becuase of the wide 'throw/angle' of this speaker we do not need any monitors.

1 home-made 15" sublow active 300W

Behringer 6 channel mixing console (inexpensive but working fine)

Shure SM58Beta microphone

Behringer DSP SHARC. A superb fully digital working mic-preamp, compressor, limiter, feedback-killer, 12 band EQ (automatic), delay.... Feedback is killed in a split second...... cost about 60 US dollars !!
(So no additional EQ's needed)

The Alesis Nanoverb is cheap, small but for stage it is working fine.

We need about 10 minutes to build up including my SD1, because I put all equipment in a 'ready to use/plug and play' suitcase.

Rene : Were you able to find a SD1 dealer ?
