yamaha had presentations for the new low end keyboards DGX series, and new CLP pianos.

right at the end they mentioned the tyros, and showed computer generated pictures of the prototype, looking exactly the same as seen at frankfurt (still without a slot for the floppy disk in the moulding).

only 2 new sounds were highlighted so far, a funky bass and a strum guitar. If the wave rom is 96 MB, then a strum guitar would explain a lot of the increase!

for the first time the subwoofer box was shown underneath the L7 stand. The speakers are the same as the 9000 pro, only rebalanced for the tyros, with no controls seen on the front.

No price is known yet, or whether the speakers are included or extra.

The name tyros is only 99% certain, it means cheese in Greek, and is also a character (badie) in the new star wars film... that is what was said!

the DGX keyboards were interesting, low price, silver finish with blue screens, 76 and 88 box keys, looking like piano keys, but lightweight plastic.

As far as I know the DGX series will include 3 models: DGX202(76K)$459, DGX300(76K)$549, DGX500(88K)$699, they are also delivering a new PSR that will be PSR292(61K)$349. The price ot the Tyros is TBA but it will be around the price of the PSR9000.

Cheers,
Maximo
