I have had some timingproblems with multipads I made on the PSR3K. I still don't know why that is, but anyway.. here is the result.

FUNKYPADS

I used the Koolfunk style
1 the intro III > Variation C
2 16 bars tenorsaxsolo (growl)
3 16 bars trumpet
4 extra bar (C > B)
5 (Multipad A-clavinet)) 12 bars baritonsax
6 (+Multipad C-bariton) 12 bars altsax
7 (+Multipad B-funkguitar) 24 bars altsax
8 (+Multipad D-saxsection) 12+16 bars jazzorgan.
9 variation D + all multipads 16 bars organ*
10 the last 12 bars: I play with intro A
11. ending II (multipads stop)

* I like the combined sound of the voices Cool Jazzorgan and Jazzorgan1. I use it with variation D.

Originally it was much longer, but I edited it. Actually I recorded it 3 times with the onboard sequencer and then recorded the sequences with Wavelab and combined the best bits of the several sequences.
I had to do that, because sometimes one of the multipads doesn't start in time.

Hi drdalet,

great piece and playing.
I have created several Multipads of my own on my 9000Pro.
I tell it's definatley not easy.
Unless your timing is a 100% and I mean 100% it will sound off when used with a style.
My Multipads are only 1-2 bars long, so it is a little easier for me.
The only way I got around it is by programing (playing) it with the tempo way down so I could be exactly on each beat.

Another problem that occurs, when you loop Multipads, is with the last note played back to the first note. This is where your timing has to be exact.
I had to record mine several times before I had it right. But it is a lot of fun.

I hope this helps...

BTW I couldn't really detect any timing problems, since there were several Instruments playing at the same time.
The only thing was that the whoke song jumped a couple of times.

Thanks for sharing

Eric

drdalet. It would be nice if you can post the MultiPads themselves, then other Yamaha Keyboard players can try the originals.

The multipad used on the song can be downloaded from:
HERE

It's a zipfile, funkypads.zip, and you have to download it and unpack it.
The file itself is called funky.s910.PAD.
It has not been quantized and it's supposed to be used with variation B of Koolfunk.
Good luck.

Hey drdalet,

I just wanted to say that I think this is a really cool piece. Yesterday, I started the work day off by cranking this one up (before everybody arrives) and did the same thing today.

Got the sub a pumpin'.....It's great!

Hi drdalet,

Really enjoyed your Funkypads piece, grrreat performances on the various lead instruments... and the accompanying multipads sound really good! Thanks for posting it.

Cheers,
Rich
