I have a friend who is going to buy a PSR3000 or a Tyros 2. He is mainly interested in an arranger keyboard to play styles (mostly in a studio). He will use an 88 note controller with various sound modules and soft synths for solo voices and to control the arranger. Are all of the Tyros 2 styles available on the PSR 3000? How do they sound on the PSR3000 compared to the Tyros 2? If you were intersted in only the styles, which would you buy? Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Jim

The Tyros 2 fixed styles are available for Tyros/PSR3000. The PSR3000 is a great keyboard for the money, but the sound is not quite like a Tyros 1 or 2 no matter which styles you use or how much you tweak it. It is similar, but not identical.

It depends on the guys needs, what he likes for sound and how much the money plays into the issue.

Best
Scott

Hi:
The Tyros2 styles contain's the T2 voice map, and the PSR 3000 map is NOT the same, Is very much like if you want to go to 100 Main St in Phoenix, Az and you get the directions of 100 Main St of Los Angeles,Ca.
Because for example, T2 has more technologies and voice sections non-existan in the 3000, as an example, the Super Articulation sounds(SA), more Mega sounds, more Cool sounds, etc......besides the price that is more or less, the double o more, depending in options and add-ons you may get, of course, the Tyros 2 has no competition next to the PSR3000 witch for the money is great, but no a contender in sounds, styles.
In a nutshell, you may put the T2 styles in the PSR3000, but they will work only partially because of the missing voices, and even if you assign 3000 voices, it will not sound near to the T2, trust me, I am a keyboard specialist, and before I got my T2, I did owned a 3000 and God, knows, I did tried to do what you suggest, I am trying to save you time and agravations.
