...who were affected by the terrorist attack on Thursday killing 200 people (so far). I hope mike "Nardoni2002" and his family are okay. I think we have other members on SZ who live in Spain too. If any SZ members or guests who live in Spain read this, please post and give us an update on your situation and how you are doing.

Best regards,
Mike

Yes, I live in Madrid and we are okay, but it was a terrible day.

Past Wednesday (11th), when the sun left, Terrorists placed several bombs (hidden in backpacks) in some trains in Madrid: it was the worse terrorist attack in Europe the last decades.

200 persons died, a thousand injuried. A lot of bodies and families were destroyed in a massive murder without reason neither justification.

Attack was probably made by ETA or a islamic group, or both. ETA is a Basque terrorist group, similar to IRA in England, which died 800 persons in past years. ETA tried this same attack several times last months, but police could stop it.

But perhaps ETA is not the author now: past wednesday, a backpack did not exploit in a train, and a mobile telephone into it permitted to police to capture five arab persons: perhaps they aren't authors, but they collaborate...

And tomorrow, there are elections in Spain. We will have a new government, a new president (not more Aznar). Terrorism and fanatism wanted to influence in the vote, but nobody know how it will influence. But probably, if attack was made by islamic terrorism, political party leaded by Aznar (right) will go down (because Aznar supported USA and England war against Irack, and this attack may be seen as a result of it), and socialism (left) go up...

I want to thank you, Mike, for your reference. And I want thank american and european governs and peoples for their condolences.

President Bush and his wife went to Spanish Embassy personally: Americans can remember their WTC massive attack (a 11th day also), and they are specially sensitive to terrorism.

I hope all humans will learn, some day, that nothing worth more than a human life.

Today, some candles light up in memory of persons dead by fanatism.

Thanks.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. My son, Rod, played professional basketball and was in Spain for 4 or 5 years. He retired last year, but has many friends there.

We had a bad taste of it here and we can appreciate what it does emotionally and physically to the good citizens of a country . Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in Spain ...

I lived in Spain for 2 1/2 years - 1/2 year in Madrid, and I felt so horrible for what happened.

My heart goes out to the Spanish people.

I hope there is no backlash against innocent Morrocans and Arabs like there was here in the USA. I know that there is a lot of discrimination against Arabs and Africans in Spain as it is.

I hope Spain can get back on track quickly and that nothing like this ever happens again.

I am glad you and your family are okay Artaher. It was truly a despicable crime against humanity. I hope the Spainish government gets to the bottom of who did this and the perpetrators get their just desserts. Some have said it may be Al Queda or as you said Artaher the ETA. I heard 5 people have been arrested already but no word as yet if they were actually involved in the massacre.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the people who have been affected by this tragic event.

PS: Still no word from mike "nardoni2002". I know he lives in Magala so more than likely he is okay.

Best regards,
Mike

My deepest sympathy to the people of spain and any Synthzoners in Spain. I hope they can find the killers who perpetrated this heinous act. I never agreed attacking anyone even if it is for revenge purpose (defending is another matter). These killers love to stir up things and do all these things to attract attention and revenge. When will people learn there is no end to these things ? You revenge by doing good to others, by being good to your enemies. Then they will hopefully change their mind/ways and realized their wicked heart. If you kill another person, then you will breed violence and revenge. Violence breeds violence. Revenge breeds revenge. I am not a pacifist but I learned this thru experience over the years.

What a nightmare. Our prayers and condolences seem inadequate at this time, but it's all we have to offer. Some things NEVER make sense.

Thanks to all for your feelings and condolences..

Massive attack died 200 persons, but changed electoral results too three days after.
Probably, Aznar party was going to gain. But people think this terrorist atack is a result of Aznar collaboration with Bush Irak war. And a lot ot people changed their vote, from Aznar party (that gone down) to Socialist Party (Socialism is against Irak war).

As result, Socialism is the winner, and new govern will be "left".

The lesson: At the end, electoral results were what terrorism wanted. Some bombs and 200 died persons determined electoral results. Nobody knows really which were the authors: probably islamic terrorism, but...
