Ok. Been screwing around with this thing for two days. The manual for the XP-80 might as well be writtin in swahili....

Can anyone tell me how to configure a Roland XP-80 with Cakewalk? The cakewalk side of things are fine....Got the instrument definitions, got output and input channels assigned and so forth.

The problem is the Roland. To make it work for the moment I'm Setting each tracks local to off, transmit and receive to on. And setting local off under the system.

I know I shouldn't have to do this. There should be a general "receive sequencer info" setting right?

The global settings under the system menu don't seem to do anything.

It'll work for a while, then some voices will cut out, and be exchanged for other voices.....

Anyone help me set up a Roland XP-80 before I throw the damn thing out the window?

(and trust me, it's not Cakewalk or the soundcard or Windows)...

Please give me a basic walkthrough of how it should be set up.

I'll give you ice cream.

Try to use the built in sequencer, its better than cake walk.

Dont have windows, but don't need to reset !!!

long life to hardware sequencers

dead for cakewalk

well, all you have to do is :
1 - choose a performance which mode is SINGLE.
2 - turn LOCAL OFF ( system / midi ) on the XP80.
3 - turn Thru = AUTO on Cakewalk
4 - enable 16 tracks ( midi chanels 1 thru 16 ) on Cakewalk....

now you should have all the patches from the parts 1 thru 16 in the XP 80 sounding in the corresponding tracks in Cakewalk....

as simple as that...hope this help u !!!
