I'm a little bit confused: what are the differences between pro and without speakers versions? Can they be both upgradable to new sounds and /or boards?
PA1X Pro is a 76 key version with a factory fitted hard drive and is currently available for around $3000 the PA1X (not pro) is a 61 key version with speakers and no hard drive (which is optional or you can fit your own with any notebook drive I guess) and is not available yet PA1X is hope to be available by march, and that's it there is no more differences in them besides the 2 I mentioned.
Not enough sounds? We doubt it but if you want to add more, the Pa1X has two slots available for the addition of optional user installable16Mb Korg sound upgrade boards. These can provide up to 512 extra sounds and 128 extra drum kits.
This is the link to the US Korg site with PA1X info. Reading this page, I get the impression that the hard disk is standard (and preloaded with stuff).

44.9 lbs for the PA1Xpro and 48.5 for the PA1X model. I got to hear the new piano board installed inside the PA1Xpro today. It sounds great and the price has gone up today to a retail price of $4500.00 for the Pro and $4300.00 for the 61 key version with speakers and no Hard Drive. By the way, the hard drive is 20 GB in the 76 key model. You can see my NAMM review in the post called Just Back from NAMM. George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California

I appreciate all the answers but still no one was able to answer my question: can regular version ccept sound boards or not???? (I know that Pro does).

PS: Since there is NO mention of Expansion Board capability we have to assume that Korg decided not to give the Pa1X that ability. Until Korg or some other trusted source tells us different by adding that info to the spec sheet, ie. (can accept up to 4 expansion Boards, etc.), it doesn't look like the Pa1X will have expansion board capability.
Best regards, Mike
