A demonstration of the KN7000 recently at our locality, left me pretty cold as the owner of a Yamaha PSR9000.
One thing though , I am curious to get to know some more about the "CD Card?" system.
The demonstration company did not bring any leaflets with them, so until I can get to the shop, I am still interested to find out if anyone has the KN7000 and can tell us some more about this system, please.

cheers
Eddie

Eddie,
There is an (over) abundance of information on the KN7000 and all its accesories on the technics forum in our Synthzone. You can also get answers to any questions you have there. Many of our Technics Forum members now have their IN7000 keyboards long enough to know their way around them.

Eddie,

I would be very interested why the demo left you so cold. Was it the demo or the board that was demoed? The SD card is very much like a hard drive. The difference being there are no moving parts to go bad. No problems with shock while moving the board to and from gigs. The cards come in many sizes. No limit to the amount of stuff that can be stored. Almost instant loading. Take the SD card out of your camera slide it into the KN and see your pictures. Load a CD in the card and play with it on your board. Much more versatile than the PSR system of managing your songs. The SD card and related functions are being much discussed on the technics forum at this time. If you care to look at the postings from the last four or five weeks on the subject of the SD card and it's many functions you could get a very comprehensive understanding of it and what it can do for you as a musician. Cutting edge stuff. Your board is a very nice board and I'm sure you have gotten many hours of enjoyment from it as I have got from my KN. Panasonic and two other companies have developed the SD card technology so no wonder the new KN board is the first one to use this. I suppose the rest will follow in time. The floppy disk and drive is no longer used in the Mac computer system of things and I understand technics has only used this drive in the KN7000 for backwards compatibility. Times are changing! It's hard for an old man like me to keep up on all the new tech stuff but if you don't like to be left in the dust you got to keep learning. If you really want to know, I enjoy this kind of thing. It really keeps my mind young and active. I guess the favorite old floppy is about to see it's demise just like my old eight tract tape player. But when I look back, I’m glad I am still alive to be able to enjoy these new keyboards. What a wonderful way to make music with these arranger keyboards no matter what brand you like. Also it’s wonderful they can be had from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Nice time to be alive.

Nice to hear you are keeping abreast of the new stuff coming our way in the area of making music.

Hi Bill and Doug,
I appreciate your info on the CD card . I knew as soon as I had written that my 'cold' response to the demo of the KN7000 would raise a few hackles
Actually, one of my first kb's was a Technics and I was at the time a keen believer in the range.(I had a C600).
But Yamaha have , for me, captured the market on 'instrument imitation' for want of a better phrase, and I do not hear any other kb's with the same reality.
As for the new CD card in the Technics, I believe I could become a follower and I intend to take your advice and read the mail in the other Synthzone Forum to consolidate my first impressions.
I wonder at this early point in my learning curve whether it will be possible to apply this system via USB and Yamaha to PC.

thanks again
Eddie
