I'm so excited! I recently bought a Roland DisCover5 keyboard and have been totally blown away with it in the few days I've had it. It is a SMF player's paradise. Please listen to my recording of the Eagles' Best of My Love. I recorder it on seldom used Boss BR532 4-track digital, using only the mono output of the Roland. There are some obvious flaws in the recording, but I just had to let you hear me and the DisCover5 harmonizer in action.

Hi Cass -

It probably is very good, but my computer plays the instruments out of tune

If Im being honest.....Although the style or SMF your using is a bit too robotic & doesnt flow smoothly for my tastes & would look for others that are much better suited in a 8bt ballad the overall performance was nice...good singing & the Disc5 always had great Voc Harmony as I heard & played Fran's a few times...the makeup tools can do wonders.

Thanx for sharing hope to hear more!!

Cass -

I listened again to the harmonies and they are VERY impressive. Did you have to chord these with the left hand?

I heard the DisCover demo at NAMM way back and the harmonies were unbelievable.

Do some more....

Thanks for all the helpful replies.
Donny - you're right on about that SMF. We usually play along live and that masks a lot of the stuffiness. I've used styles live before that do have a better feel. This is a SMF, but I would be open to one with a better feel.

Zuki - I did not touch the keyboard during the song. The harmonies were automatically generated by the harmonizer. I will record some more songs soon.

saimg - The midi was played using the DC5's LIVE cover; it is slightly different than the original instruments. For the harmonies I used the Singer mode with Ensemble harmony. The Ensenble was set to Soul. I faded that harmonies in and out with the knob; I found that quicker and easier than switching the harmonies on/off. Also, keeping the harmonies alive helped me mix the volume and intensity.

This would be a lot of work on a live job, and would probably interfere with playing live keyboard. I'll have to experiment some more and see how effective I can be doing the singing, harmonizing and keyboarding all at the same time. In any case, it sure is FUN!!!
