Hi,

I have two questions here :

1) I go to the drawbar section and make an organ sound, name it and save it. Then choose it for let's say Right1 voice, and store it in a Registration Memory.

When I first set it for Right1 voice, I see the name I gave it in the display for Right1 voice. After storing it in a Registration Memory, I still see the name in the display. Now I push another Registration Memory and then go back to the one with the voice I made, and it doesn't display the correct name anymore, it always says JazzDraw!
Is this right ??

2) In the Registration Memory, to be able to store the Left voice, Style has to be marked, but when I want to change Registration and not the Style, I use Freeze Style, so then again the Left voice doesn't change.
In other words, there's no way to have the Left voice changes in the Registration Memory without the style changing too ??

Thanks,
Roy

For your question #1 I can tell you from experience and from other discussions on this forum that Yamaha does NOT display the name you saved the voice under. Very frustrating and probably easily remedied with a S/W update. But so far nothing.

The GEM Genesys has 8 Style Presets per style to solve this problem. There are 256 preset Styles and 64 User Styles, all with 8 Style Presets (registrations) each. That's 2560 style presets in total.

There are also 1024 Panel Memories that store the selected style, variation, tempo, right hand and left hand sounds, style track sounds, effects routings & mixer settings for live and accompaniment tracks, transpose, vocal processor settings (4 part harmony, effects, volumes) etc.

Oh yeah, each Memory and Style Preset can be named and will be displayed whenever you like.

WDMcM : Thanks for the info on the GEM, although I fail to see how this relates to my questions about the PSR, unless you're trying to sell me a Genesys here, in which case it won't work, I only have the Yamaha for 2 weeks now, so I'm hardly thinking about changing

Hello Roy,

Frankly I didn't know what type of keyboard you own. Nowhere in your post topic, post content or in your profile did you mention that information. If I missed it I apologize.

I only knew that you didn't have a Genesys, because these things are possible to do on that instrument.
