I'm traveling to Columbia (S. America) this Tuesday for a performance. I've travelled a lot within the US and Canada and have never taken insurance on my equipment before. But to Columbia ... I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've checked online sites, but nobody seems to offer equipment / baggage insurance. The most I've seen is for $2000 coverage limited to $300 per item. I need to cover my Tyros, drum machine, (and possible laptop) for anywhere between $3500 - $6000.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I don't just want lost bagage insurance but damage insurance as well.

Thanks,
Chony

Chony,

I have all of my equipment insured through Erie Insurance Exchange, it's not expensive, and I'm covered for all hazards, including damage or theft during transportation. You'll find them at http://www.erieinsurance.com/

Good Luck,

Gary

Thanks Gary, I'll definitely take a look at that when I get back -- I do have to get regular insurance anyway. But right now, I'm just looking for an immediate solution for this week to cover my equipment for international travel. If anyone can help with that, t'would be appreciated!

also your Homeowners will list instruments and charge accordingly.
I have mine covered under my Motorhome Insurance now.

ok, I'm going to columbia without insurance

Will let you know how it goes. I guess I'm alright as long as I don't come back to find it full of crack.
