George,

Could you please find out details about the multi-pads on VA-76. There is little detailed information about this instrument on the web, so I would appreciate if you could enlighten us on this subject. Some of the questions are:

How many of them are there?
Can you trigger individual sounds/effects or sequences?
Can you assign a Variphase sample to each?
if so, do they play while the button is pressed, repeat until you release a button or press Pad stop button (if there is such a button?) or do they start when the button is pressed and play out to completion, regardless of how long you want them to play?

Please let us know. I think that being able to include VP samples may be a great way to liven up the sound of the auto accompaniment instrument.

Regards,
Alex

Maurice,

Thank you very much for the information. I am somewhat disappointed but not surprised. The pads on the VA-76 are not multi-pads in the Yamaha-Technics sense at all. Instead they appear to be the assignable control buttons, to make up for the fact that there are many important control functions which are now only accessible through the touch-screen. There are similar assignable buttons on the G1000, which I use a lot, but, alas, these are not multi-pads.

Once again, thank you, Maurice, and sorry for my ranting.

Regards,
Alex
