Dear Friends
I have been watching the various keyboard forums for several years now dating back to the Canada forum. It's time to say Thank You to many of you for so much information and data regarding the various arranger keyboards. I have especially learned so much about my KN5000 from the likes of Gunnar Jonny, Scott Yee, and Bob Hendershot but Thanks is also due to many others as well. Being in tune with the winter Olympics, this forum could be the Arranger Keyboard Olympics not for the competition angle but for the reason that people from around the world have come together with a common goal to share knowledge, help others and have fun. There is however a Gold medal in the works and that should go to UncleDave for initiating and finalizing the Yamaha Keyboard for Ryan!!!
As way of introduction, I live in Bethlehem, PA, 50 miles north of Philadelphia, 80 miles west of New York City. Currently have a KN5000 ( 3-1/2 + years) and PSR2000 (2 weeks). I use two Yamaha MS60S monitor speakers for amplification. Don't play professionally but play in many of the area's nursing, assisted living and similar facilities. Enjoy watching the effect music has on people - it is a therapy, source of comfort, stirs memories of a better time, and turns frowns into smiles for many. I'm semi-retired and work a few hours a week. I play the keyboard about three times monthly. My interest in playing started with a Kimball organ many years ago which was intended for my children to learn. They took no interest in it, I did. Since then I have owned Casios, PSR 500, 520, Technics KN2000, 3000.
I can sit for hours at the keyboard and play even if it is through headphones - enjoy all kinds of music.
I don't know what possible knowledge I can give to any of you but I just wanted to express my Thanks and Appreciation to all of you.
Music is Magic - Continue with the Show!!
RicRob

RicRob: MANY thanks for coming forward and introducing yourself. It's great to discover so many friends here from the old Technics Canada forum days. Also interesting to find that we both own the same 2 KBs. I started taking the PSR2000 out gigging within a week after I bought it. Though I still prefer the KN5000 when playing in full keyboard mode, I think the PSR2000 excels with its outstanding 'live' acoustic instrument sounds and lightweight versatility. It seems that Technics styles excel in swing jazz, orchestration (strings), and big band latin, while Yamaha focus' more in contemporary pop/country styles. Funny, I seem to be adding more and more country tunes to my repetoire lately. RicRob: I'd be really interested in hearing 'your' impressions between these two keyboards. Though I'm pretty happy with my current setup, I'm still anxious to find out what the Technics KN7000 and Yamaha 10000 brings. Great to hear that you are sharing your gift of music and bringing joy to people's lives. Hope you will consider sharing your music with us here too.
- Scott

Uncle Dave, Mario, Dnj
It's unusual that I would turn down a luncheon, at least in the near term and would like a rain check. My son and daugher-in-law are awaiting the arrival of their second adopted child, a son, early next week.
Their first is not quite two years old, so my wife and I will be called into service for a few weeks. I hope it can be arranged at a later date as I certainly look forward to meeting you fine people. Thanks for the invite.
