I'm thinking of playing some more Motown songs.
My qusetion to all of you is: what are your favorite top 5 Motown tunes that you perform.

Thanks for you input.

Hands down:
1) My girl - Temps
2) Ain't too proud to beg - Temps
3) Can't help myself - Tops
4) Heatwave - Vandellas
5) Stop in the name of love - Supremes

Pretty much...play ANY of the above artists and you will be a hit. But remember - Motown is a label, and NOT an era. Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder & the Commodores are also a part of that history.
Most people want the 60's stuff when they ask, though. At last check ... "Endless Love" was the biggest selling Motown hit.

Hi Uncle Dave,

thanks for your answer. I try to get a general idea what people like. I remember in a previous post you mentioned that Motown will get people on the dance floor.
At least it works for me.

It's your experience as a professional musician/entertainer who can read the audience that gets people on the dance floor.

Nope.....it's chicks. Just chicks. It's ALWAYS been about chicks.
Get the chicks to dance and the party has begun!
