I'm getting back into making music for fun at home. A long time ago I had a small home studio which included an S550. I've been looking around for a board with a sequencer and a sampler. I saw and ad for a D20 selling for $650. Is this a good deal? Will this unit let me get creative and have some fun? All those out there with any insight please respond. -Thanks-

Don't Do It!
The D20 is basically a simplified D50 with a sequencer. It's quite basic, 16 note poly and you will find better sounds these days on your average computer soundcard. If you are looking for a cheap 2nd hand synth, go for a Korg X5 or Alesis QS6. You should pick one of these up dirt cheap, they have 64 note polyphony, some useable sounds and you won't run out of ideas nearly so quickly...!

Do you remember where you saw that D-20 for sale? I would love to buy it!
However not for 650. That's to high. 3 to 400 is a adverage price. The D-20 is
about 10 years old. So you can imagine that it is not something one would want to
buy. However, I use to own one and have 1,000+ hours of work on disk and the
D-20 is the only keyboard that can read those disk. YUGGG!!

Take care,

The D-20 has a good sequencer for the price. I bought one about 10 years ago and still can use it for sequencing. The sounds are below average, and the action is weak. The 3.5 disk is nice, but there is NO sampling. This thing came out in the late 80s. Buy something newer. The Alesis is probably your best bet.
