I wanted to know whether the inbuilt styles from the PSR 740 could be transferred to the PSR 2100 and how?

It can be done, though its a lengthy process. By far a quicker route is to ask someone to email you a copy of the 740 styles, try posting on forum.svpworld.com as I am sure there are a few owners who are members.
To do it yourself, you need to choose each preset style in turn and enter style edit mode. Edit the style name slightly (this is necessary for the 740 to realise the style has altered and allow you to save it) and then save the preset style to floppy. Continue for all preset styles.

As Simon says you don't have to convert them, they are already available, along with styles from CVP, Tyros, PSR9000, etc. Even though Yamaha made some of the sites take them down, you can still find them. Just ask.

Sunny, you'll find that many of the styles in your new 2100 are very similar to those in the 740. However, there are some improvements with new voices and variations.
