I have a CVP-307 at home and I am looking for a suitable keyboard for gigging? Is there another CVP user here? Which keyboard do you use for your gigs?

I have a CVP 107( 88 keys) not a 307 at home . In an ideal world I would be able to transport the 107 for gigs. But since that's too much work, I recently bought a Casio Privia PX 400r. I bought it because I like 88 keys. ( all my training was on piano) I had looked at buying a PSR3000 before I bought the Casio but the 61 keys were a drawback for me.

FAST FORWARD to this past week. I was never totally
happy with the sound of the Casio, it's great for the price, but not really what I need. So this past week I ordered a PSR 3000 which I hope to have in the next 5 days. At that point I plan on using the Casio as a controller for the PSR 3000. Depending on the type of gig ( sometimes my gigs are just background piano playing). Bottom line I'm really counting on adjusting to having 61 keys and using that instead of taking the 3k and the Casio to gigs. Stay tuned...............

Stephen, though the PSR3000 sounds terrific and portable (with built in speakers too), if you're accustomed to playing the CVP307's impressively responsive full weighted action keys, I fear you're going to be very disappointed with the PSR3000's comparatively toy like key synth feel from the get go. Though the Tyros has a synth action (non weighted) keyfeel as well, it's keys are (to me) a LOT more responsive (less squishy than the 3000's) for expressive playing that is appreciated with weighted keys. If you can get used to the PSR3000's keyfeel though, I suppose you end up saving a bundle of $. - Scott

Scott, thanks for the input. About 4 years ago my first experience with an arranger was with a Casio WK 1630 and I did miss a true piano feel but I did manage with it OK. With all the great features of the 3000 I'm hoping I'll adjust!

I sell a Roland keyboard which many of the Clavinova and KR people like alot.
It's the Roland KF7. It's still 88 hammer weighted keys and it weighs about 65 lbs
This keyboard has an arranger, vocal harmonizer, lyrics and score on screen, built in speakers, great sounds and an easy to use 16 track sequencer. Selling price for this keybaord is right around $3000.00 so it's not as inexpensive as the PSR3000 or the Casio Privia PX-555R but it has the features and feel of the top of the line Clavinovas yet portable enough to move around.
Another good choice might be the Roland FP5 which weighs closer to 40 lbs yet has 88 graded hamer keys, arranger functions (although not a lot of control) and sells for around $1500.00.

I agree with Scott. I tried and though I was able to play the 2000 fine, I never liked the ways the keys felt at all. Too bad, because it was otherwise I thought it was a great board value vs dollar.
