I tried out this keyboard today and was very inpressed.
The sales man told me you dont need to be a pro singer to sound good,even if you cant sing you will sound goog and always intune when using the vocal processer of the G70.

This might be the board that I have been looking for.
Is this statement true because if it is I will go out and buy one?

Is the vocal processor your main reason for buying the keyboard ?

I use the psr3000 which I am still very happy to use so really its just the vocal processer that really attracts me to the G-70

The G70's vocal processor is very good but I would imagine that when the salesman says even if you can't sing it will make you sound good is a bit of a sales pitch m8. I'd imagine that you must have some vocal talent and a bit of know how when using the processor to get the best results. The Korgs top end arrangers also have a superb vocal unit in them as does the Tyros 2 when it's set up correctly.
If you want 76 keys then either the Roland or Korg should be great. I can't sing for the life of me but if a salesman said to me this arranger will make your vocals sound great I'd imagine he is only after his sales commission fee lol Ask the salesman if he can sing, if he says NO then ask him to sing into the G70/PA1x pro and see if his voice suddenly sounds great.

That's some sales pitch. Vocal processors process. Yes, they can do some pitch correction but there is no "perform miracle" setting on them. If there was, there wouldn't be an American Idol show. Garbage-In-Garbage-Out does apply here.

I'll bet the next customer that came in couldn't play and the salesman said "don't worry, this is an arranger, the styles play for you." The next customer was a guitar player, "don't worry, we'll just turn up the distortion"

Hmmm, another (perhaps more feasible) answer by the salesman might be: "Don't worry, this is an arranger, it's got a built in midi file player which plays commerical SMFs, so you can, by simply muting the arranger's keys, fool (more like: deceive ) your listeners into thinking it's you playing the lead keyboard part on the SMF file.

Scott could you elaborate a bit more on this topic? Using SMF w/lyrics/score, custom or commercial is a big part & very strong feature of using an arranger KB....weather you just sing to them, play with them, use them for a band backup or to accomp you on big multitrack arrangement songs that are impossible to play in style mode alone. Playing an arranger vs an acoustic instrument is all part of the fake game in a way .....when you play styles your LEFT hand chords trigger a pattern that the Kb plays the style parts, drums, bass, etc, etc, no one thinks YOUR playing all those parts when they hear a band & see one person playing some kind of electronic device which leads to their thinking Karaoke, Computer, iPOD, CD's, Casio kb or some kind of musical device to generate the sound the audience hears...these are the downfalls to today's audiences perception of a One man band scenario & n today's world this isn't gonna change but get worse .....
Lip syncing, Air guitaring, fake playing & singing is part of the show in many big acts all over the world, eg: Disneyland, Vegas, etc etc the audience knows that BUT they love the Show because its entertaining, Looks good, & Sounds good & that's the bottom line to a paying customer leaving satisfied that they were entertained for an hour or so, feeling good, forgetting their worries, & enjoying their time during the act. An arranger KB is just another musical tool to be used in anyway to generate happiness musically. I find Purist attitudes boring sorry.

The voice processor on the G70 is suppose to be the same as the Discover 5. When I heard the Discover 5 demo, I was impressed, although others on the zone were not. It can make a singer sound, for example, like the Back Street Boys. Make a mans voice sound like a womens, etc, with pitch correction. It won't make a tone deaf person sound good, but the sales guy said, "dont need to be a pro singer to sound good". You would "sound good" NOT professional. I think I can sing, but I don't have a good singing voice, a processor like th G70, could make me "sound good" (acceptable).
Is there a software version of this tool or a module from Roland that is identical to the Discover 5?

Please pardon my ignorance but hope do these harmonizers work. Do they harmonize the melody you sing following the chords you play on the keyboard?
