Ive just bought a new A-70 and was wondering does anyone have any of the expansion boards for the A70/A90. I was wondering how are the sounds and if there are a list of patches somewhere for the boards: VE-RD1, JV-IE, and VE-GS1. I think those are the names for the expansion boards. Thanks for the help.

Print the SC-880 patch list. It is identical to the VE-GSpro card. I think you will like what you see there.

VE-GS1 is the same as the smallest column in the SC-880 list. (=SC-55)

I have A70 also with VE-JV1E board. There are some nice patches in there but most of them are nothing. It doesn't have much polyphony. Those nice sounding patches are using more than one sound layered together but few polyphony. I am thinking about getting the VE-RD1 snd just wondering if there is a similar sound with patches #9 MEGAPAD from VE-JV1 board from any Roland board/modules. Or can I get this sound also from any JV sound module like JV1010, 1080, 2080.

I have the -RD1/-JV1/GS1 Boards, I use the RD1 all the time.

I've got an A-70 with the the JV-1 board installed, and would agree that there are just a few patches that I like. I purchased it to use with my E-96 arranger and my SC-880 sound module. For the most part, I prefer the sounds of the SC-880. I have found one 'acceptable' piano on the JV-1, a guitar that's decent, and an organ or two. I've been watching and waiting to see if and when Roland will reduce their price on the VE-RD1 board. It seems rather high to me. And as I don't need the VGS-Pro (my SC-880 has exactly the same sounds, as well as a lot of capacity for combining and editing the sounds), I'll probably just hand in with the JV-1 for now. I really like the touch of the A-70, and hope to keep it as a controller for some time. However, since I've also used the arranger (E-96) quite a bit, I've been tempted to pick up a G-1000, which has the A-70 keys and the SC-880 sounds!
