I just aquired a Roland S-50. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the boot-up disks (OS)?

Download OS from Roland U.S. site, there is sampler files for both Mac and PC; and other utilities.
PC files:
http://www.rolandus.com/SUPPORT/SOFTWARE/PCSAMP.HTM
Mac files:

Forgive me, but I have downloaded the PC file s50v20.zip that uncompressed to s50v20.out. I also have sdisk.exe, but upon execution, I get the error:

'Diskette is too small/large for file: s50v20.out'
How do I convert the file?

Thanks in advance,

Just checking:
S5020.zip 643.970 bytes
S50V20.out 743.729 bytes

I've downloaded the files from Roland site and tested on my computer, works fine.
Note that Sdisk.exe is a DOS program; it will work under Win 9x, but the disks are not written correctly. If you use Windows, quit to DOS mode and use the program.
The file S50V20.out is a 720k floppy image, it will not work with high density floppies.

Please let me know if sdisk worked for you.

Thanks, Mgomes. I have to find a 720 KB DD Disk to try this. I am very appreciative of your help. I will post a message if it works/doesn't work.

I got the OS disk to work...partially. I now have the S-50's display reading:
'Roland S-50 ver 2.0'
but the manual says it should go on to load
Tone Data, Patch Data, Function Data, and MIDI Data, but it does not. No buttons provide any functionality, either.
Am I missing these portions of data on my disk?

Denisb,
please accept my apologies for the long wait...
I´m sorry, but I can´t help with loading OS and sounds; I´m using a S760 with a SCSI HD to boot OS and load sounds. I saw your posting about the sounds, I hope you get the answers you need.

Mgomes.

denisb: I went through the same thing with mine, back when I had one. My suggestion is to get on the horn with Roland (since you're in the US) and request one - say you've bought it used and don't have the disk. I did this; Roland was very helpful and kind (no joking! ) and sent me an actual disk for my S-550 which loaded up fine. It was worth the wait, and beats hell out of pulling my hair out trying to make the download work!
