I was at a local Sears yesterday and I saw they had the new Casio 671.. So I gave it another whirl to determine whether I still felt its sound quality was better than the WK series.. I have to say I still stand strongly behind the 671 in regards to sound quality.. Almost the entire sound set of the WK-1600/1630 and WK-1800 have a sound set based off the CTK series. The CTK-671 sound set was made with the same technology as from the MZ-2000.. It even states in the specs that the sound set was based on MZ-2000 sound source.. Trust me it shows too.. Many of the sounds on the 671 are taken from the MZ-2000.. Of course they don't sound as good as the MZ, but they are damn good compared to the WK's.. Also the 671 even has preset EQ settings. Even a lot of the styles on the 671 are taken from the MZ-2000.. I know this because I am a former owner of the MZ. If Im correct the synth part of the WK's only allow you to edit the voices in the user section. The 671's user voices are ALL preset to grand piano, meaning you can take the panel voices, adjust them and save them to a user setting.. If I'm incorrect about the user voices on the WK's I apologize.. I think the only downside to the 671 is a lack of pitchbend wheel... I'm shocked they added so much to this keyboard and left off the pitchbend..
