Why havent they made the keyboard stand that every pro needs and wants. They arent study enough, and they arent adjustable enough. My favorite stand so-far has been the Quicklok deal. For one stand, it is great. The sexond teir sucks. It is not adjustable to my needs. So does anyone have a suggestion for a two teir stand which is extremely sturdy and the second teir is adjustable up and down, left to right without slanting left to right, and slanting up and down. Please let me know at: jblack2nd@aol.com

Hey Jamie...on a side note, fan of the band.

I know what you mean, the problem is getting portability and stability in the same package. Are you using the QLX-22? I definitely reccommend double braces for any setup. Nothing worse than trying to play a moving keyboard.

Hi JamieBlack,

Not sure if this will help or not.

Jamie, I have the Quicklok setup as well and it was a real hassle until I drilled holes and inserted 1/4 inch bolts through the second tier mounts. I can still remove the second tier mounts for gigging by removing the hand screws from the rear. No more loose mounts, Works Great Now!

The Apex is SOOOO easy to tip over sideways!!
I used to use it, until a drunk fell into me and almost crashed the whole rig. NEVER again! I like the stability of a double braced x-type stand. Ultimate maks two nice ones - the IQ series. The 2000 is a lightweight one and the 3000 is a heavey duty mutha !

Hi all,

Z stands are solid, just not real easy to deal with and transport: better for semi-permanent home or studio setups, I'd say. I bought one and returned it, as it didn't go low enough for my needs.

Agreed about the Ultimate IQ 3000: rock-solid, wobble-free with two tiers. Top-notch customer service from Ultimate (they sent me a replacement part for a 10 yr. old, second-hand broken stand for free). This is one beefy stand; look at their website for the second tier option.

I have the Quiklok 642: has two tiers, but differs from the 641 in that the second tier is NOT height-adjustable (i wish I realized that before I bought it, as the price difference between the two is like $15, whereas the cost for the conversion kit is $50!! Quite a ripoff, Quiklok....). I've since adapted to the fixed height, but...

I have a Roland A-90EX (60 lbs) and Roland A-70Ex (40 lbs) on it, and the Quiklok works fine in my home studio: I'm the only staggering drunk allowed in my home and I, even in a drunken stupor, know not to fall on the MIDI rig.

Agreed... ultimate is solid but I am leary of the 3rd tier in the IQ3000.

The ApexPlus holds my Roland RD300 (56", 88keys, 72lbs) and an analog on the 2nd tier. What I like about it is that it is streamline, and it does not move forward or backward AT ALL... however, beware the sideways fall as Uncle Dave says. Fortunately I don't play where drunks can get to me.

What I'd really like is a 3-tier that can do all that and stay standing. The Axman will only hold up to 48". Any thoughts?

For three teirs - the all time best is still the old Ultimate tube stands. They take up more space, take more time to tear down, and look dated - but they are very adjustable, really lightweight and hold everything in it's place. You can add mic stand booms to them, and mount small monitor speakers on them too. I have been experimenting with TWO double braced X stands in an "L" shape. One in front of me and one to the side. If you have the room - this is a cool setup. Nice visual and easy to get around inside. All the wires are bundled up close, and it gives me another "drunk" barrier!
