I have been offered a Roland D-70 for 38,000 Belgian francs = 950 euros or US$ It's in perfect condition... Is this a good synth, how old would it be, and is the price reasonable? Thanks in advance, Chalk.

Chalk, I always liked the D-70, I think its a great keyboard, although a little dated, with no sequencer or general midi. If you do buy one I have a library of sounds I developed including a GM map to be used with a ram card as well as the user internal ram. Inthe USA the selling price is around $600 for a clean D-70.......Fran
Thank you, Fran. But I don't understand how I can work with it if it's got no sequencer or GM... I need a synth with it's own sound bank, etc., and preferably with GM. Maybe the D-70's not right for me? Yours, Chalk.

Hi Chalk,
I agree with Fran. At $950 US, it is a good deal.... for the seller, not you. I own a D-70 as well but it is not worth that much given the synths available today and their capabilities. $600 US for a D-70 in mint condition is okay.
Hey, I've really started something here! Great to hear from all you guys, and a sincere thanks to you for your help. I'm taking note of everything you post, and will definitely not be buying the D-70 @ $950.00!! Thanks again. :-) I'll keep checking here for your messages... Have a great weekend, Love, Chalk. www.songland.com
