Hello,

I have a rather old S-10 keyboard which has a silly little problem. The QuickDisk drive has died. I have taken it apart, and it seems like it's a defective drive belt.
Does anyone know where I could pick up some spare parts for this? I'm hesitant to drop $100US for one on Ebay, since most are sold 'as is', and the disk drive is usually the first to go.
So, anyone know where I can pick up a working QuickDisk drive?

Thanks,
Bill

Getting replacement disk drive belts is a problem with many older keyboards. Someone on the Yamaha forum had a similar problem with their SY-77 and was unable to get an original replacement. The solution was to take the belt to a local VCR repair shop and get them to find one from a VCR that was as close a match as possible, probably a little smaller actually, as stretching is usually what causes these belts to stop working so you need something that fits a little tighter than than the one you are replacing.

Thank you!

Better responses here than in the Korg group I might add.

Not saying that I asked this question in the Korg group (which would be useless), I asked a different question, still no response.

Thanks,
Bill

if you can get a measurment on the belt, try www.partsexpress.com , thing is they have a $20 minimum order, and the belts usually run under a dollar each...

Thanks everyone.
I just got a belt from the local VCR repair shop. I re-assembled the drive, everthing seems to spin ok. No extra pieces either (maybe I did something wrong? heheh).
Once I get home, I'll reconnect it and let you know how I made out. Hopefully, after three years of silence, my S-10 will sing again!

Thanks again,
Bill

YES!!! It worked! The replacement belt worked in my S-10! woo hoo!
I know this may seem trival to you 'newer' synth owners out there, but the S-10 was (is) the first (and only) real synth I own.

I case anyone is interested, I was able to find the belt at a local VCR repair shop. If anyone else is looking for a replacement belt for their S-10 (or MKS-100 or similar), let me know.

Also, anyone have a bunch of quick disks they want to part with?

Thanks again,
Bill

I also have an S-10 and after a few minor repairs its back to life. It's not as bad as people say it is but it kinda reminds me of all the Roland keyboards I've had (except the Jp's).. "Typical Roland" Just to let you guys know, I have some used disks if any of you are interested I could maybe part with a few. as you know they are hard to find.
enjoy
