Hello

I know I've seen someone else mention this problem. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanx

Hi Scott

if I understand you right, you want to put something on top of your PSR2000 like a small 19" rack or 19" halfrack. I did this with a 19" halfrack sized KORG NX5R which is something like a small sound expander.

I use a... of what is it in English "Klettband", it is not a zipper, it is something you find on shoes like a ribbon(sorry babylon has no translation)...

but here is a picture
http://www.fiber--optics.de/Produkte/Montage/klettband.htm

There are types of this with glue on both sides. You put one on your PSR2000 (above the speaker was the best), the other below your rack. Ready... for playing bring both together... the rack is now fixed and will not slip away. After your gig you uncompress them. That's all.

Good luck

I use "velcro" for this sort of job - you can get it with adhesive backing.

Hi

Thanks for reply, but no, I'm referring to the music rack that comes with the keyboard that holds music. I set it up and once in a while I want or need to use music and after playing a short time off goes the book and music rack on the floor. This has never happened with any other keyboard I've owned or tried.

Thanx

Hey Scott,
I had the same problem with my 2000. It's a poor design for heavy items. I ended up putting a sturdy music rack up behind the keyboard. At least it would then hold a book.
Good luck,
Zuki

Hi Guy`s,
Same KB , same problem
What I do is ,take the songs I want and photo-copy the pages (if the song book isn`t too thick), that way I can lay out the pages and save "flipping" in the middle of a song.
The other thing I do is find "Tab-Music" (for guitar) that way if I know the mellody and just need the chords , then that works too.
All you have to do is print-out the "tab" and your "good to go" !!
I hope this helps

Where is DonM when we need him?
After seeing his creativity at work in building the "Redneck Rack" for his PSR 2000 and hearing about his $11 monitoring system, I am sure he can offer a solution that would not cost more than 27 cents.

Seriously, the music stand only fell off during two jobs before I decided not to use it any more. (BTW - same problem with the 740). Now I carry a heavy duty music stand and keep it off to the side of the keyboard in the event of a memory lapse. Total cost: Hmmmmmmm. After hearing Don's solutions, I am too embarassed to say.

I just pick the damned thing up when it falls off.
Seriously, that's why I don't use it much except at home to practice (about once a year).
Get yourself a redneck music rack. It matches my redneck road rack. (But that's another story.)

Thanks peoples for the ideas so far.

DonM, Got a great laugh from your first line. Now, I'm not sure, but I think it's time to give you guys a laugh on this one. Don, I can usually tell when you or someone's joking. But, I'll have to tell you I DID type "redneck" in search and didn't find anything. Got me! (I think).

Zack: What color and texture duct tape do you recommend? Very important to me. Would you mind posting a picture of your keyboard set-up with your music rack firmly in place as described and recommended? Have you contacted Yamaha yet. (Problem is though I know you are serious??!!)

Hi Scotty,
Ages ago I posted the problem I was experiencing with my PSR640. During a song the music rack would pop out of its slot in the PSR's plastic casing (because the PSR casing would flex against the more rigid music stand). Very frustrating and veeeeery embarrassing. The only way I found to solve it was to keep an eye on it, because it would slowly work its way out, and push it back into the slot before disaster struck. Since I moved to the 9000PRO I don't have that problem anymore.
Jon.

...and not to mention when you're grooving with your eyes closed and this thundering clunk happens, scaring the h--- out of you. Worse yet, it all crashes down on your keybed.

Uncle Dave,
In preparation for the flying music rack, I now close my eyes instead of using the uncomfortable safety goggles.

Scott: i use standard gray stuff, and i color it black with a permanent marker to match the board. i have also found further uses for the wonderful stuff: if there is a sturdy wall handy, i don't bother bringing my stand. i just tape the board sideways to the wall and drag up a chair. the obvious benefit is that this way, you can stretch out your legs! another way i use it is when old geezer dudes come up to me and beg me to turn the volume down, i either have mercy on them and stuff their ears with tape, or mercy on me and tape their mouths shut! as for notifying yamaha, i did, and they are currently working with me to create a new type of harness made purely out of duct tape so that musicians can dance with the crowd! (patent pending) and in regards to pics, i think its kinda pointless, because the whole board is covered in duct tape, so it just looks like one big ball! now, i'm hoping that by now i've convinced you that i am in fact not at all serious. the truth of the matter is that most of my music is memorized and i use music finder thing as my song list and one long registration bank. i do have a little notebook with exotic songs that are requested from time to time and that i haven't gotten a chance to memorize. i would seriously advice that maybe split up your music into several diff. notebooks categorized by genre, and even if you have to bring more than one notebook for any given occasion, at least you only have one up on the rack at a time. and during fill-ins you can bend down and get the next. so that's my story. ttfn! Zack

I use a hammer and tap each side of the stand into the slot until it will not go down any further. The only problem is that it take's me a half hour to take it off.

Only kidding on the hammer. I force it down as deep as it will go with my thumbs and every once in a while give it some more thumbs down treatment. It seems to work as long as do not put any music on it.
Only kidding again.
I have charts on cardboard for each song. No heavy books which elimates the problem.

I thought I should let you know it's time to update. Yes, no more gray tape and permanent marker required I just saw it at Wal-Mart they make it in Black. Just thought you should know for future gigs especially when you tape it to the wall.

Love, Jennifer(Scott's fiance)

Datablues: That would be called "Velcro Cable Ties"....

Don: That is ONE HEFTY MUSIC STAND !!!!

At our PSR GROUPS we spoke about the advantages of Sticky Tac (looks/feels like Silly Putty toy).

I personally use a big hefty stand like you'd see someone in a band use. I put it immediately behind my PSR. It has a "base" where the music rests that is a number of inches deep. I can keep 3-4 fake books on the stand at the same time! I've never used any of the stands that came with any of my PSRs. Too dinky for me!

I've never seen a 9000 Pro, but don't they come with an extra-good music rack?
