Nice review.

Must admit I am quite interested in this new model from Roland, despite always owning Yamaha keyboards. My only reservation is that, based on the demos I have heard so far, I don't think it stands up to the quality of the Tyros 2. Then again, I've not heard the E80 in person yet. It sure does look the business though.

Regards
James

I had a short time on an E-60 while I was on a Yamaha tour in Newfoundland.

Nice action and pretty easy to get around on, even though I am used to the Yamaha system.

I did own several Roland arrangers in the past, and this was like going back in time as the layout was still similar.

I liked the sounds, especially the organs(although there weren't a lot of them) and the guitars were very nice as well.

I disliked the acoustic piano, which was thin in the middle octaves...top and bottom were good and strong.

I wish I could have had more time with it.

I imagine the E-80 would be even better.

Ian

Difficult to agree with their opinion of the main piano sound (unless they were accidentally listening to one of the other piano sounds) because it is the same sound as the VERY well received RD700SX. There ARE some clunkers in the piano bank, but the main one is not one of them......

I agree with Ian about the E piano sounds - very thin in the middle.

I disagree about the guitars - I thought they were very weak.

Other than that, a great board for the money.
