I am thinking of making the quantum leap from my well loved Technics KN5000 to a Tyros 2. The KN5000 supported a feature called Techni-Chord which assigned harmony effects like open and block chords, duets, big band etc.to the right hand. I know it may sound like a stupid question but does the Tyros 2 support a similar feature. I couldn't seem to find anything like it in the the specs. unless I overlooked something. Just need a little reassuring!!

Hi arcadia,

Not sure if this well help , but the Tyros 2 as well as the S900 , both have what Yamaha calls AI Chord voicing.

In other words you can do f/x chords with your right hand in the AI mode.

It really is a very good way to play chords on a Yamaha , don`t go with "fingered" just stick to AI and it will work fine.

Also in handles all the inversions that you can think of !!

Take care,

Hi,
it's called harmony on my psr1500 & I'd be highly surprised if the T2 didn't have it also. ( not to be confused with vocalizer harmony).

best wishes

Yes it is called Harmony/Echo an the Tyros 2. There is a dedicated button to invoke the effect. The particular setting is through the menu system, [FUNCTION][HARMONY/ECHO], where you can controlType, Volume, Speed, Voice assign, and so on.

Many thanks, Rikki and Gary and Keith for your info.
Glad to see the Tyros 2 has this facility. I'm looking forward to getting the keyboard in a couple of weeks or so.

Regards,
Cleon

Cleon,
I recently made a change from a Kn7000 to Tyros 2. I now own a Yamaha 900. The Tyros 2 will do what you are asking and much more. You must be prepared relearn, Technics and Yamaha think differently, the method of operation is better but it will take a bit of learning.
