The only thing that is going to stop abuse of the edit (essentially, those who flame and then remove their flame rather than not flame in the first place!) will be the quote button...

If EVERY time someone flames another it is IMMEDIATELY 'quoted', at least the ability to remove one's asinine remarks will be gone, and the civility that has stayed here while the edit was removed MIGHT continue (presumably, the shame of seeing our tantrums indelibly in print has stopped us SO FAR?).

I must admit, it has been amazing to read how well we have behaved (on the whole!) since we couldn't 'hit and run'. If we the members keep each other honest, at least the typos can get corrected without the return of the 'disappearing flame' posts...

I like to think that the editing was just a by-product of the poor behavior we experienced earlier this year. The behavior has been exceptionally mild and pleasant. Let's hope we can ALL keep it that way in 2008.
