You don´t need a S50 formatted disk...
If you´re using a PC, get both SDISK program and the OS file from Roland U.S. site, and use a DOS formatted disk. (Just remember to quit Windows, to DOS mode, before using SDISK...).
I don´t know if Mac uses its own formatted disks, but Roland site provides Mac files as well.
Look at:
http://www.rolandus.com/SUPPORT/SOFTWARE/PCSAMP.HTM for PC files and
http://www.rolandus.com/SUPPORT/SOFTWARE/MACSAMP.HTM for Mac files.

Hi
I just downloaded the OS this week on a 720 DD 3 1/2 " floppy and it works to boot the S-50. If you need help doing this e-mail me at denisb@charter-systems.com.

My problem is it doesn't go on to automatically load the sounds like it says it should in the manual. Please repond if you have the same problem so I can verify my source disks.

Thanx for the help.I was actually able to find a copy of the disk at a local used gear dealer. When I boot up with this disk,I actually get the sounds loaded up instantly too.Just lucky I guess.
