Does anyone think the T-1 can still cut it as a live machine? One has become available to me at a very good deal, and as I now have a new 76 note controller, I was thinking maybe a 61 note arranger might be better than the sd1 sitting on the stand, and easier to get to.
Its the one arranger I have not played, but the demos all sound good.
Any opinions?

Lots of people stayed with the Tyros1, the appeal of the SA voices and FSX keyboard (and a few other goodies) on the Tyros2 not being enough incentive to make the change.

They seem quite content with their decision according to what I've seen on the Yamaha forums.

It still has Mega voices, plenty of great styles, but it still uses the floppy drive, although you can install a HD if you wish.

The demos do not do it justice...you have to hear the Mega voices "live" to really appreciate them...they make quite a difference in the styles.

There are also tons of styles available, and a great support network for this instrument.

The Tyros 1 is an excellent keyboard. You should be able to get one for what the S900 goes for or possible less. I wish I would have kept mine along with the T2.

Prior to my getting the SD-1 I owned a Tyros 1. It is still a top of the line board and could be used anywhere. I just like the sound of Ketrons better so I sold it.

Of COURSE it can still "cut it"! The fact that there is something newer out there doesn't make an existing board sound or work any different than it did before.

If you are fortunate enough to procure the T1 at a good price, take the time to learn the board's intricacies and you'll be amazed at how great it sounds and all the wonderful features it holds. I will do that. I am pretty sure I will go ahead with the purchase. The price I am getting it for is about $1300 US which I think is pretty fair as it is in perfect condition.

Just goes to show yet again, that one should test keyboards with their own ears.
For quite some time I have been put off even trying a tyros because of the demos, and the opinions of others.
Well that was a mistake, the tyros arrived today and I have got to say I am impressed by both the sound and the operational capability.
The only proviso is the keybed is too small and very "airy fairy" for me, but with a 76 note controller it works very well. I have note got into the harmoniser section yet, as I have been spoiled by the Korg and Ketron harmonisers, but I only really use them mostly for doubling and the odd 2 part harmony, so I dont think I will be missing too much.
I will get into programming it and setting it up fro me over the next few days and get it out to gigs. It's a keeper for me, and at the price (1195 US) an absolute bargain.
