I have several bad keys on my Rhodes Mk60, after a period of storage. In two cases, there is a one or two octave relationship, but this may be random, since the others are apparently unrelated. The keys do nothing when pressed -- no sounds, no glitches. I have removed the keys and the underlying rubber mat, and there was no difference visible from functional keys. I tried cleaning to no avail. I tried using a different rubber mat on the nonfunctional keys, no joy. I have not yet tried to measure or replace the diodes, hoping it was something simple.
I suspect that the mechanism in this keyboard is used in other Roland products. The rubber mat has two black rubber contacts each of which bridges what appears to be carbon contacts on the circuit board. One of the rubber contacts is higher than the other.
Help! Any clues?
Thanks, Steve
