This is about me, my voice my keyboard and the type of music I play. And that does make a big difference.

The JBL 10” are fantastic for there size. Good bottom, beautiful mids and fair highs. When pushed too much they become very bassy. For lour volume you must add a sub. My voice sounds great, full and round and the keyboard is very acceptable. The Mackie powered 15 would probably be my choice if it were not for the weigh and price. I walk into the job with one in each hand and that’s so good.

There are many that like the X5500 – good bottom and clear highs. The JBL’s are warmer, the mids and great, but not as strong. I have tried my JBL’s with the X5500 sub – fantastic. My search --- to get a system that sound as good as my Bose earphones. (Dream)

Yes, Donny...I am always learning, my wise and learned friend...to say the least, your posts are...er...enlightening to some degree.

I had this posted on another thread...which you may have missed.

"I tried one two weeks ago...it was hooked up to a Hammond XK-1.
The rotary effect sounded very good through it and the K4's "tube" effect was nice.

I got the sales guy to hook it up to a PSR-S900.

It sounded pretty good as well...quite loud...but don't expect much stereo separation, especially if you are used to hearing stereo through a pair of powered speakers.

I don't think the speakers are long throw so it won't really project the highs all that far compared to a PA speaker.

Also, it's quite heavy and rather awkward to carry.

Donny, judging by your obsessive and compulsive buying and selling, you sound a tad confused about what works or doesn't work for you.

If my "depressive inquisitive negativity" doesn't impress you at all...how about my extreme laziness...gee...that's gotta count for something?

I still like them a lot and is all I am using. Usually I just set them on the floor and tilt them up. No stands needed for my purposes. Easy to haul at 23 lbs each.

I still get curious about trying other equipment like everybody else. I have a simple set of criteria that I go by. Good quality sound, less than 35 pounds max, and that's more than I'd ever really want to go.

So this really simplifies what I will look at. I am curious to test out 12" speakers and the Bose, but will probably stick with my tried and tested JBL's

Are you suggesting that I buy a $3,000 unit with your financial backing?

Seriously, if I were still in the full time business I would have one, when it comes to equipment I did not hold back. Good equipment has a way of paying for itself. Years back when I heard the first Bose PA I was amazed. A eight piece band and a strong vocal – I searched the band stand and could not find the speaker bins. What I did see was these two little speakers one on either side of the stage. They were loud, but they missed that something.
