Just bought the RD700 and going to start sequencing with it directly to my PC, using Power Tracks 7 by the way - greatest little bargain going.

Does anybody out there have experience sequencing to a computer with the RD700? Looks like nobody's made an instrument map yet. And Rolands manual goes on and on about how to sequence to a sequencing module (cause they want to sell you one of course) and makes NO mention whatsoever that someone might actually want to sequence to a COMPUTER ! Wow...what a concept.

So there are NO clues about how to do this in their manual. I've done enough MIDI, a couple of years now with other gear, that I bet I can get this up and running. But if anyone has any experience / suggestions particlar to the RD700 and sequencing to a PC I'd sure appreciate it. For example - they talk about putting the RD700 in the "record" mode (under utilities) in order to sequence to a sequencer module. Huh?

Thanks in advance to anyone out there with experience with the RD700. I just wanna use it as my combined keyboard and sound module with a PC...nuthin fancy. Very, very simple in fact. And I do know all about hooking up MIDI cables and the basics of MIDI. But any special issues with the RD700 and a PC?

Well, for a little amusement (very little) let me reply to my own post. Do NOT buy the RD700 if you're hoping to sequence to a computer! Forget it!

This is a great keyboard for live performing, terrific sounds, great feel to the hammer-graded keyboard. BUT, like many Roland keyboards it is NOT friendly to being sequenced to a computer! (And has no sequemcer on board either.) I returned mine. Back to my Ensoniq ZR76 when I need to sequence to my PC. Too bad. The RD700 sounds and feels great!
