As I build my songbook (going through my existing 900 songs and trying to get do them in the 800 - a bit difficult to let go of some of those great Yamaha styles), I want to know the following:

I found in the past when I reload my music resources, it loads in the new songbook, but DOES NOT take away the custom song list. This is good......but I'm afraid to try it again now that I have a lot of songs.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, zuki

Hi zuki

I'm a 10 day Korg owner, but I'm hoping that if you save the Songbook to a pen drive that you can reload it in the event you need to do a total resptore. Have you tried that yet. In fact it's probably critical to do a backup!

When I opened up my saved file using the Songbook editor on my PC all the initial songs were there in addition to my created songs.

Graham,

Thanks. I've not done the editor software yet. I guess I'll experiment with that later tonight when I get home. Any tips?

Thanks, zuki

Zuki I back up very frequently. I backed up my PA800 on Friday night after I made the last changes to the Songbook. On Saturday when I picked up my Pa2XPro I simply loaded the back up. Viola, all my songbook entries and key settings from the PA800 were transferred to the new board.

I guess the keywords are be sure to do a back up before you try anything. Good Luck

Stephen,

Do you do a total backup of the OS, or what exactly do you do?

Thanks, zuki

Hi Zuki,
backing up is different to saving.

I always do a SAVE.

Page 228 (Vers 1. Manual) Media Edit Mode.

When you press on the Save tab you'll see the ALL folder.
This contains All your user data, ie styles sounds, songbook etc etc

Hilight All
Press Save TO Icon choose ssd-f for the front USB stick.
Press the NEW SET icon
Name it by pressing the T(for Text)
I usually put ALL14thfeb ( ie whatever date it happens to be)

Press SAVE & this is crucial Make sure that the Songbook & favourite styles IS TICKED.
Whatever is not ticked won't get saved.

This means whatever data you have saved can then be loaded back into your PA, right down to a single style.

If you just do a backup of your system, you don't have this option.

You can also save individual songbooks & styles etc.
You just open up the all folder , hilight what you want to save, name it, & you can have a hundred songbooks if you want them
all with different names..

If you're at all nervous about loading a songbook back in , just in case you haven't saved it properly, email me a copy, I'll try it on my PA & let you know if it worked.
Mines still original, plus I have it backed up anyway.

best wishes
Rikki

Thanks again Rikki,

I'll try these things out tomorrow night. I have to keep working on getting my songs done on the 800 - I'm only at 15 so far because I'm customizing every single detail for every song. Then I practice and practice more to simulate live play....

This board is really special with its power. Sure, there could be more styles, but I'm making them work and haven't been shut out yet on needing something. As mentioned before, there is little need to use consistent fills, because of the complexity of the variations. The pads are truly terrific. I love the OTS names on the screen

If this thing will sound as good through my PA system as in the internal speakers - wow! I also think the OS is very doable for live play.

Planning to make the switch on April 1 - no kidding

hi Zuki,
the saving & loading system is a bit confusing at first, but you can literally "save"
( I won't use the word backup, that's a different method altogether)
anything from a single style to the complete user memory of the keyboard including global, sounds etc etc.
If you want a complete backup, just make sure when that screen pops up, that you tick everything. Songbook is NOT one of the items that is ticked in the default page.

When you get down the track a bit, a pad drumfill may be an interesting option.
I copied a couple of the drum fills from one of the styles to a couple of the pads just to see if it would work. Gave a bit of variety & didn't sound too bad.

Did you download any of the styles mentioned on the Createasong style forum. The PA80 Elite styles were quite good. They sounded as if they may have come from the Technics series, & who ever converted them did a good job.

Hi Rikki,

Just home from 3 jobs - ughhh.

Thanks for the last note. I went to that site, but couldn't find the link to download those elite styles? I tried everything to find them...
