I've been reading through some of the old posts. hear pros and cons on both.

what is the best stand for my purpose?

I wanna have just a single tier, left side a music stand attachment and on the right a mic boom, in all the pics, i see them with attachments on the 2nd. tier. Tyros 2 will be used in this setup. Need the sheet music stand to rest the tablet pc on opting for the convertible laptop, will give me features of the music pad pro , and a nice boom coming off the right side.

Has anyone used attachments on the single tier with success?

Is frank still a dealer for both?

The V-stand is quite nice, but pretty heavy and sort of clumsy to fold up and carry.
Attachments are available to do what you want.

If you have the attachments for it, such as the mic boom, they get in the way of folding it up.
Also, the snapping mechanism is prone to coming "unsnapped" as you carry it. Probably none of this is that important, but it was awkward for me to use.
I don't own one, but my friend HankB has two, and I borrowed one to try it out.
You will probably get feedback from those who use them more. Seems we are the only two idiots awake this time of night!
DonM

P.S. He might want to sell one if you are interested. He'll probably read this in the morning. He LOVES the stand btw.

Don,
You said the stand doesn't fold up easy with the attachments on the 1st. Tier.

Don't the attachments come off pretty quickly when finished with the gig, Making the stand fold easy or is there permanant hardware that needs to be mounted if putting it on that first tier. I hope I'm not making it sound more confusing.

Donny, you mentioned the apex. I haven't seen any photos with a sheet music stand attached I've seen the mic boom coming off the top. Do they make a conductor stand attachment for it?

Fran has a V-stand (or at least he did).

Apex would be a great choice except it's made more for standing. That center column would obscure the view if you're seated.

Quik-Lok's Z-stand takes attachments.

I'm on my 3rd Apex... love them. YOU can get the mic boom attachment for it and as far as a place for your laptop, you can always get a piece of plexiglas, or wood and make a shelf out of the top tier and place it there. I did that for one set up, where I used a piece of dark smoked plexiglas on a tier and it made a little shelf, I think for a tabletop unit of some kind.... been years..... mind tends to go..... and ... wait.... what was I saying......?

Yes the attachments come off, but you have to unscrew them. No big deal, just takes a minute.

Yes,

I am still an Ultimate Dealer, I personally use the V-80 Stand when I play, I use the mic add-on adapter, which works great except you need to disconnect it to fold the stand up.

Probably the best thing about this stand is that you can use a gym bag, and get everything into it.

Set-up is pretty quick too.

Email or call me.

Frank..a gym bag...after you sold me the Ultimate bag..

Actually, I love the V-Stand..and yes the Ultimate bag too..

I also purchased the Mic boom attachment..and the shelf attachment[for laptop]..from Frank

The mic boom is terrific...The shelf attachment is a little bulky [especially for storing]..The stand and mic boom fit in the bag nicely..I am contemplating cutting down the size of the shelf, so it will also fit in the bag..It doesn't need to be as large for a laptop shelf..It seems better suited for a song book [size wise]..

Just be aware that the Apex stands are pretty hopeless for positioning pedals, apart from that they are very good.
I currently use a V-Stand(ultimate) with a Kurz pc1se on the bottom and a Tyros on the top with the shelf attachment, although I only use the shelf (for charts) when playing in piano only gigs.IE no Tyros.
FWIW The V-Stands look really cool, as do the Apex and both are far classier imo than an X- stand!!
Cheers

I also use Apex's[I have two]..The V-stand sets up faster than the Apex..It is very stable, and if you sit[I do not]..It works better than the Apex..also pedal room..The Mic boom only has to be loosened[a few turns of the knob]...and turned slightly ..and it is off..Same with the shelf..

By the time you open up the Apex[slide out the bars]..open the foot bars and attach the bars..and attach and adjust the mic boom...You are already playing with the V-Stand..

I fully agree with that.
I use an apex since years but the volume/expression pedal and sustain are allways in the wrong place..

If I go with one keyboard I just use a simple single X stand, adjustable enough to stand behind the keyboard and no problem with the pedals.

The apex is sturdy though. At the moment it is in my homestudio supporting:
1. Kurzweil K2600
2. Korg triton
3. Roland G 800

You might also look at the quicklok (f.i.model Z726L), they have some handy models and are fast in set up too.

It was a bad joke......don't those stands all "lean" on an angle? I know the apex does, and from pictures, it looked like thr roland had a similar style.
I was making a reference to the leaning design of the main support!
Whew.......too many words to explain a bad joke! sorry people !
(at least I thought it was amusing!)
