Ever since I bought this fine machine, I noticed that there was not too much enthusiasm on writing about this rhythm-creating giant.

Does anyone know any neat tricks? Or anything else interesting?

The R-70 is I believe the next model after
the R 8, where there seems also not much enthousiastic people because;
timing was bad! and it did not sound as a robot like tr series..and compared to newer rythem composers these were only 12 bit sounds instead of 16 bits..

All of this is totally nonsense and I think the R 8 f.i. is one of the best ever made, if you know how to use these rythem composers.
I guess the R-70 will sound simular as R 8.
Timing is a matter of set up each instrument
to a human feel of 0 , and there's your robot
Standard it's mostly set up as human feel 3-5
which gives it the human feel, so don't know how this is setup on R-70 , but if that's a bit simular as R 8 , that's a trick you can use to get it in sync with any sequencer program..

12 bit sounds/16 bit sounds???
drums don't need more as 12 bits!
The drums on my old R 8 (purchased new in 1985 with 8 rom cards + 1 ram card)) still sound better as my Roland G 800
keyboard drums...
