I just picked up my PSR-3000 today. And boy does it sound great!

But.....

I can't get the MIC input to work. No matter what I set the pot on the back to, I get no level what so ever from the MIC. Even though it looks like it's switched on in all the config pages regarding the MIC.

Is there any sort of special MIC I need to use? My MIC is a generic dynamic microphone, I used a XLR->Unbalanced 6.3mm JACK (TS) cable. Am I doing something wrong? or should I make an angry call to someone?

Doc,

There are two types of XLR to 1/4-inch adapter cables, and I suspect you have the wrong one. The correct cable has pins 1 and 2 connected together and connect to the 1/4-inch plug's sleve. Pin 3 is the hot pin and connects to the 1/4-inch plug's tip. If you have access to an ohm meter you can quickly check this out. The only other option is to open the XLR connector and examine the wires, taking careful note of the color and connections, then opening the 1/4-inch plug and doing the same thing.

Almost forgot. Make sure the small switch next to the trim pot on the back of the keyboard is set to MIC--not Line.

Thanks for your help Gary, it really helped me. Boy I think almost everything that could be wrong was wrong with this thing

1. I opened the cable, and the hot wire was not soldered on.

2. The hot wire was on the 1 having 2 and 3 soldered together

3. They had used a string of solder to connect 2 and 3..

4. My MIC was dead, I had to get a new one.

5. The potmeter on my psr-3000 was loose, so I had to push it quite hard to make it work. First it only worked while I pushed it in. I think this is something I will need to repair in the future...
