I have a question regarding songbooks on the Korg's (Pa2xpro).

Can you Save and Load Customized songbook files? How do you do this?

I know there is a custom list but can that be saved separately or does that just isolate songs from the main songbook?

Thanks
Al

Here's what to do:

While in Songbook be sure that you have enable list edit checked off ( use down arrow on upper right of the screen)

Choose list edit tab then choose "new list"
Then go to book( 1st tab on the left at the bottom of the screen)
Choose the songs you want to add to your custom list.
Once you have placed songs in the list then touch the write button. A dialog box comes up and rename the list from "newlist" to whatever is appropriate for the custom list you're creating. Each time you modify the custom list i.e. adding a song or changing the order of the custom list be sure to hit the write button or your changes will not be saved.

Thanks Steve,

I guess what I'm trying to do is the use the Songbook like the Yamaha Musicfinder database. On the Yamaha you could create your own databases on disk then load them, set them as default if you wish, edit them, then save them back to disk under a new name such as; "cocktail hour", then reload them at will.

Is this possible, and as easy on the Korg?

I noticed there is an Export List function, but I don't see a Import List function.

Also, when I go to media Save, and try to save the songbook, it creates a .SET file which looks like it has two files. Is this the songbook file/database which you can load/save/customize?

p.s. I got your email and that was helpful, although it refered to page 267 for tips and quick access keys, but that must have been for a keyboard other than the Pa2xpro, because that page in the Pa2 manual has midi information.

Thanks
Al

Al, as I understand it, in the Korg world you have a master songbook with all your songs. Then you can easily create additional custom lists that could be your "cocktail hour" playlist. No need to load anything, it's already there in your custom list. Then if you want to put the same song in another custom list "dinner hour" just follow the process Steve laid out.

What I really like is that you can make a change to the song once (say rebalance the voices) and it will be like that in any of your custom lists where it appears.

If you want to view just your songs you could call them all the "Al" genre as you create them. Then you can filter your songbook to just see songs with your genre.

Hope this helps. It's a different world, as I'm learning every day.

Everything Graham stated. From my point of view it's easier than customizing the MFD list because everything can be done right at the keyboard, very easily.

The export function creates a text file so that you can print out your entire Songbook contents.

What I've done (Pa1x Pro) is this:

Since I do primarily praise and worship (The church actually bought the keyboard for me and it belons to the church), I have made a master list of our songs and called it Destiny List, for Destiny Ministries. Then , for each service, conference, etc. I go in, select the songs for that service and place them in a list I call "Set List". I an then go from one song to another or choose between those.

If I need to pull another song up that I don't have in the set list (which happens quite often in a prophetic, free flowing church) then I can pull up my Destiny songs and select from there without having to go through the entire list in the songbook, including the factory songs.

Hope this helps.

Also Unlike the YAMAHA MFD ....
the KORG allows you to save your songs with Transpose which is very useful for using different singers.

Korg also provide a free Songbook Editor for your PC. It's available as a download from their website.
