Recently decided to get into synths again after absence of 13 years! Last synths JX8P/DX21 and used an ESQ1 in a band. Remember lusting after the D50 when it came out in '87.
Forgotten about all the technical ins and outs, so forgive me if this question has an obvious answer. If I got myself a D50 (if there are any on the market) and attached a sequencer to it would i be able to lay down a number of tracks and have the sequencer play them all back, or will the sequencer only be able to play one at a time? I remember doing this all the time on the ESQ1(although I seem to remember that the ESQ1 had a built in sequencer) and wondered if the D50 would hack it.

If not, if you were getting back into this after a long absence and no knowledge since the late 80s, what synth, sequencer combo would anyone recommend, say for about £700/$1100??

A decent sequencer (be it hardware, or software) will play back multi tracked sequences no problem.
Bad news is:
The D-50 can handle two parts at most.
It's more a dedicated synth than a do everything unit.
There was a device that you could add to a D-50 that made it mutli-tambral.
However if I where you I would look for something more up to date, and current.
There's also the D-5/10/20 keyboards, which are multitambral, but the D-50 has a more powerful sounds thanks to it's effect processor.

I use my D-50 mainly for master keyboard duities, modules do the rest...

With the money your looking at you should find somehting brand new that will suit your needs.
