Thanks for stopping by. This is simply a request to anyone who thinks the sp-808 is a great piece of gear but also thinks that a few minor improvements would make it the BEST SINGLE PIECE OF GEAR EVER to write Roland and let them know. I think this machine has the potential to be pretty much invincible. Here
are just a few suggestions that I think would qualify it for that title. Mainly, more SCSI options(loading & saving to a 2gig hard drive would be killer, not to mention eliminate the zip noise). If not that, then at least being able to read/write from the external zip as well as the internal one to make for no breaks in the music then one zip is finished (crucial for dance music). Being able to work with other sample formats would be cool too. I think those are the main things. Some others that might be worth mentioning are more polyphony(although re-sampling makes that less of an issue), waveform editing, real-time crossfading, real-time pitch bend and time stretch, sample naming, and being able to play a sample chromatically across a MIDI keyboard. Or better yet, add a keyboard
to the sp-808 and combine it with the jx-305s synth engine and sequencer. That would be MASSIVE! SOONER OR LATER SOMEBODYS GONNA PUT OUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS SO IT'S REALLY JUST A MATTER OF WHO'S FIRST! If you would like to
see these changes or if you have some ideas of your own, please write Roland now and express yourself (apparently Roland is swamped with their e-mail so if your SERIOUS write or fax them a letter- It'll be way more likely to get read). They want to know what their potential buyers want, and if the demand is there (and I think it is), they will eventually supply it. If I seem passionate about this, it's because I think this could be the GREATEST piece of gear EVER! which would ultimately lead to MORE musical creativity for MORE people which would equall MORE better music(and less top 40) for the world. YEAHHHHHHH! PEACE, B MAN
